KY Pimps - Xaviera
Following the insanely popular but morally not-so-correct pimping FA, here comes the next installation. Yes ladies and gentlemen, I'm pimping again, and we have Xaviera on the auction block.
Again, as a disclaimer, I'll have to tell you that this is by no means sexually related. It's all about getting you to enjoy a nice evening with this lady, if you are the higgest bidder, of course. So here goes!
Introduction:
Name - Xaviera
Age - Twenties
Weight - It's a secret, but properly distributed, you'll see
Height - Probably around 5'4 or so?
Speciality - Drink & dance, and sometimes whack the shit out of the sandbag
X Factor - Motherly figure, won't starve the baby.
Synopsis:
This girls know how to party, and yet have a softer, more domesticated side. She doesn't need to be that high maintenance chick who insists on fine dining on cavier and champaign. As you can see, she gets satisfaction from Burger King and McDs too. You can't find these kinda chicks around KL easily, now can you?
To Date her:
As some of you might have read about the FA pimping post, this is no different. It's all about getting a decent date for Xaviera, for example, she might not enjoy it if you bring her jogging and all you do is running in front of her, in reverse, with your eyes fixed staring at particular parts of her body.. that's a no no.

So I was hanging out with the gang having a drink at Starbucks at IKEA/Ikano, and spotted this sign..

KY saw - Klang's very own Twin Towers
Going back from eating the Pork Rib rice at Klang, I spotted the lesser known twin towers of Klang. This is a well hidden secret, uncovered by yours truely.
They have planned to build a connecting bridge, too!

KY eats - Banh Xeo, Vietnamese Crepe
As some of you might aware, I have written quite abit about Vietnamese food such as the BBQ & steamboat. The latest installation, I bring you Banh Xeo, something akin to crepe.
We went to this place called Banh Xeo 46A, an old school place by the roadside, with extended roof however. The place is packed with mostly Vietnamese, but I did see a table of mat salleh smacked somewhere in there tho.
As you can see on the bottom 2 pictures, they serve BBQ prawn and fish too.
This is what we came for, Banh Xeo, it's got shrimp, bean sprout, and some other stuff in it. As with most Vietnamese dishes, it came with a generous serving of fresh vegetables. We also ordered fish, and some fried pork that came with something like very soft pohpiah wrapper.

KY eats - Klang Pork Rib Rice
Last weekend my housemate Horny Horng decided to bring us (myself and kerol) to Klang for some pork rib rice which he claimed to be very good. So we called up Galvin the Klang Chow Ah Beng to join us, since he stays nearby.
The place is smacked between the old bus terminal and the Indian movie serving cinema, right at the town of Klang itself. Ask anyone, or the Ah Beng himself if you can't find it.
Do they look yummy or what?
We ordered for the portion that feeds 4 people, a plate of the signature dish, the pork rib (top right), mutton curry in claypot (bottom left), and some vege. As busy as the place was, it only took some 5 minutes before we were served.
It turned out that we finished all the food and Galvin didn't even eat. Later he claimed that Kerol is counted as 2 person.. =/
The pork rib was by far the best that I had, it's sort of deep fried but yet not hard. The fat content is rather high but that's probably what makes it so smooth with the melt-in-your-mouth texture. It is served somewhat like chicken rice style, with some sauce over the meat.
The mutton curry was good too, as well as the vege. The place also serves asam fish, pork knuckle with vinegar, and more.
Drooling? Remember this is non-halal ok...
The Klang way of eating rice is a bit different, you pour dark soya sauce over it. That makes the rice a little sweet, and with an underlying richer taste. At this place, you can also order drinks that comes in big, recyled soya source bottle. We ordered a bottle of Chinese herbal tea and a bottle of soya bean.
You gotta try this place if you haven't yet. It was good and it was pretty cheap. Costs us about RM 25 for everything.

KY saw - Penang Ah Beng Style Karaoke
On a recent trip back to Penang, I discovered something that I truely did not feel too proud of my home state, and that is the Ah Beng Style karaoke booth and your-own music video shop. This is truely an innovation to fulfill a narcissist's dream, on a budget.
Goddamn Ah Beng color scheme too. Couldn't find the Type-R sticker anywhere tho.
This was at Prangin Mall, there's this whole area filled with these karaoke booth. You just go in, feed the machine some notes or coins, and sing your life away in the booth. I guess the booth must be giving a shower-room effect and make you less shy.
Look, got glass door!
Interestingly, the booths aren't completely opague, there's a glass window on the side and on the door too. After much comtemplation, I figure it is for safety issues. You know, just in case your partner can't take your horrid voice anymore and started foaming, at least someone from outside would notice it and save him/her from a slow and painful death.
Your own MTV! OMG HOW COOL
If your budget and your narcissism is on the higher side, you can make your own MTV at this place! I think they use state-of-the-art blue screen technology (like HOLLYWOOD, like how they make STARWARS!). You sing in front of that piece of cloth, and they instantly transfer you to whatever background you wish! London, NY, even KLCC I bet! You get your MTV on VCD when you're done, so you can show it to your mom. Lets just hope she won't start foaming too..
I was informed that some of the coin operated booths will also let you make your own MTV, perhaps with not as sophisticated as this shop I guess? heh.
Maybe this is why I prefer to stay in KL despite the good food in Penang...
p/s: I don't know how much those stuff costs as I don't intend to use them, but i think Goh would love them.

Koi Pond - Filtration System and Plants
After taking a swim in the koi pond, we decided to get slightly more serious and got some plants to decorate the pond side nicely.
We got five of those whitish green plants and 4 of those reddish plants as well as some bamboo look alike plants and floating water plants. Looks pretty impressive isn't it?
Floating plants on the waterfall, and a japanese ZEN theme is in with this little stone pagoda thing at the far side of the pond. We installed a small light bulb in there too!
Here's the all important biofilter.
First chamber - Japanese Mat, with aeration
Second chamber - Bio Balls, with aeration
Third chamber - Bio Stones, with aeration
Hope this set up is sufficient, or else I'll have to start thinking about a trickle tower...

KY - Best Minesweeper Player in Malaysia
... and sometimes Singapore & Thailand too.
As an IT geek, I'm probably one of the very few who do not engross myself in the world of cyber games such as World of Warcraft, Gunbound, or any other multiplayer games. However, as a old school guy, I play Minesweeper instead.
I'm so good in this it's totally ridiculous. Then again, with the amount of time and lost productivity from office, it's just natural.
63 frigging seconds for expert level, will your mom believe it?
Lately I discovered minesweepers.org and the world of uncheatable minesweeper competition, in "real time", online. It's a pretty neat concept, you play their version of minesweeper, and when you win, you can submit your score online and compare it to the other, even crazier no-lifer who doesn't have anything better to do than clicking their brains away.
OMGWTF, SO COOL.
I am like, 3rd fastest all-time in the world at 63s and fastest for August. Amazing ain't it? That's a way to make your country proud!
I am now proposing anyone who can challenge me in this game, winner will get a free dinner, and losers, well, just spend me teh-o-ais. COME! I DARE YOU!
p/s: omfg i'm a geek.

Koi Pond - Swimming!
Since the pond is almost done except the proper set up of the filtration system, I decided to christen the pond by taking a swim.
It was alot of fun, I brought out the snorkling gear, and did some exercise over the water, too. You can see Horng at bottom right enjoying the waterfall.
For some of you with higher bandwidth, you can see a video we took over here. I did a death man fall, Horng took a dive, and you can even see FA visiting us! Too bad she didn't bring her bikini, heh.

Koi Pond - Waterfall and Spotlight
Following the previous post from the Koi Pond series, this installation will showcase the waterfall and the spotlight that we recently set up.
Look at Horng imitating ninja turtle on the upper right
We bought this feng sui waterfall thing from one of the many places that sells them at Sungai Buloh. Costs me almost 400 bucks with the gravel and all.. but it's all pretty and dandy, saves me tonnes of work from creating something that resembles a natural waterfall with my limited skill in that department.

After connecting the pipes and switching on the pump, we found a problem. Water kept spilling and splashing out of the waterfall to the side of the pond. A decision was made and a mini-pond constructed underneath it to provide a way for the spilled water to flow back to the main pond. The small mini-pond would also served as a very small vege filter (basically a place to have some aquatic plants to soaked up the NO3 that would be converted from the good bacteria from main filter.. but I'm sparing you the details for now.)
And let the be light
A 300 watt halogen spotlight was installed on top of the wall to illuminate the now-almost-awesome garden, too.
Next post would be gardening and the main filter, but at this point the pond is 90% done.

KY eats - SS2 Poh Piah, gone
So we finally decided to try out the Poh Piah (wet spring roll) stall at the monday night pasar malam at SS2. As the stall was usually way too crowded and our stomach way too hungry, we usually passed up the idea of waiting in starvation.
This time around, after buying our usual dinner packages to be enjoyed at Misai mamak stall, one of us decided to order 4 pieces of poh piah. The friendly hawker said "come back in half an hour". So we enjoyed our Char Kuih Kak, Nyonya Kuih, Fried Chicken, and so forth at Misai, and finally went back to the poh piah stall.
Sure enough, the uncle still remembered that my friend had ordered half an hour ago. He was way busy in preparing for another batch of poh piah to be served to his crowded customers surrounding the stall.
And I do mean crowded!
While waiting, we started to chat up with the hawker. All of a sudden, the uncle said "I'm retiring.. been selling for 30 years and it took me 5 years just to get the skin right. It's tiring and this will be my last day "
Everyone around the stall displayed a look of dissapointment on their face.. We tried to convince the uncle to teach one of us to take over the business, but he said it'll take months to learn, full time, and basically probably telling us to just keep our day job and stop harrassing him preparing the lasts of the poh piah.
Feeling somewhat lucky and yet dissapointed at the same time, we collected the poh piah and head home.
Overly satisfied customer
And it was really good! Easily the best poh piah I've had in KL. Too bad this first one is also the last one.
I secretly hope that the whole retirement thing is just a trick for getting more customers. We'll see if he comes back next week. hehe

KY can cook - Beef with Mushroom
Following the recepi of Kung Pao chicken, fried fish, and indomie, here is another excellent entry presented to you by none other than your friendly chef, KY. Here's the mouth watering entry of beef with mushroom, complete with ingredients and steps.
Step by step, so easy
The ingredients:

note: The way you want the beef to be cooked (rare, medium, well done) depends long you fry the beef on 3rd step.

- Beef, sliced
- Mushroom, duh.
- Garlic, Ginger, and Spring Onion
- Cornflour
- Salt, Soya Sauce, and Maggie Seasoning
- Marinate the sliced beef with maggie seasoning and soya sauce
- Heat up the oil and fry up ginger and onion till you can smell it
- Throw in the beef, fry for a while
- Throw in the mushroom, fry.. what else.
- Add in premixed cornflour and water as the "juice"
- Serve on a plate with spring onion sprinkled on top
- PROFIT
This is so yummy we finished everything

KY fakeplan - How I conned people into eating sand
A friend of mine went to Redang last year, and brought me a cup of sand from the beach, that was kept in a starbucks cup. I put it on top of my PC, and it remained there without much fanfare, and I thought: why not get some entertainment value outta it?
So I had a discussion with my clients at my workstation a while back. Both of them are women of 30+, conservative Malay ladies equipped with tudung and traditional baju kurung. Lets call them Puan A, and makcik N.
Puan A got here first, and in the middle of discussion with her, she asked "what's that on top of your PC? Some sort of kacang or asam?"
"Well why don't you try some?" I replied. Since I always ate her food at her office, I thought I'd return the favor.
She took the cup, slowly open up the lid, dug her fingers into the sand.. took some .. and before I had the chance to stop her, she put it into her mouth.
"YUCK YUCK YUCK *puke/spit* " and I gave her some tissues while laughing my ass off. She was the first victim of the day. "Jahat la you" was what she said. hehehe
Makcik N arrived thereafter, and inevitably she started asking.. "Oh, what's that in the cup?"
"I don't know, but you can try some" or something was what I replied. Knowing me, she was abit suspecious, but she still thought it's some sort of food.
"KY ni jahat, must be something funny.." she said. "You can ask Puan A what it is, she's tried it just now" I said.
She was trying to ask Puan A while extending her hand to the cup... but all Puan A could do was laughing non stop while Makcik N repeated what Makcik N did 10 minutes ago. Putting the sand in her mouth.
This time both of us were rolling on the floor laughing while the makcik wiping her mouth off and spitting into the tissue and telling me "Ku akan ingat kan youuuuuuuu!" (I will remember you!)
hehehe.
A couple of weeks later, an excerpt of the email sent from Makcik N to the team including myself and Puan A.
"Puan A,
Whatever it is.. kite dua2 makan pasir ! (both of us ate sand!)"

So I had a discussion with my clients at my workstation a while back. Both of them are women of 30+, conservative Malay ladies equipped with tudung and traditional baju kurung. Lets call them Puan A, and makcik N.
Puan A got here first, and in the middle of discussion with her, she asked "what's that on top of your PC? Some sort of kacang or asam?"
"Well why don't you try some?" I replied. Since I always ate her food at her office, I thought I'd return the favor.
She took the cup, slowly open up the lid, dug her fingers into the sand.. took some .. and before I had the chance to stop her, she put it into her mouth.
"YUCK YUCK YUCK *puke/spit* " and I gave her some tissues while laughing my ass off. She was the first victim of the day. "Jahat la you" was what she said. hehehe
Makcik N arrived thereafter, and inevitably she started asking.. "Oh, what's that in the cup?"
"I don't know, but you can try some" or something was what I replied. Knowing me, she was abit suspecious, but she still thought it's some sort of food.
"KY ni jahat, must be something funny.." she said. "You can ask Puan A what it is, she's tried it just now" I said.
She was trying to ask Puan A while extending her hand to the cup... but all Puan A could do was laughing non stop while Makcik N repeated what Makcik N did 10 minutes ago. Putting the sand in her mouth.
This time both of us were rolling on the floor laughing while the makcik wiping her mouth off and spitting into the tissue and telling me "Ku akan ingat kan youuuuuuuu!" (I will remember you!)
hehehe.
A couple of weeks later, an excerpt of the email sent from Makcik N to the team including myself and Puan A.
"Puan A,
Whatever it is.. kite dua2 makan pasir ! (both of us ate sand!)"
hehehehee. I love my job.

KY eats - Vietnamese BBQ and Steamboat
In previous posts I have introduced you noobs about Pho, an expensive Hue meal, and vietnamese coconut ice cream and coffee. This time around I visited another excellent old school type of food establishment to have some classic Vietnamese BBQ and Steamboat kinda thing.
Don't exactly know the name of the place or where exactly it is located as my friend zoomed through the narrow streets in the scooter bringing me there. It's somewhere nearby District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, and I think the place, or the food, is called Lau Ca Bong Keo, or something like that.. anyway.
The setting of this restaurant is almost like a kopitiam, but with very low chairs and tables (perhaps a foot high). Kinda cute in a way, but also very pragmatic, you don't have to stand up to put the food on the burner or in the steamboat like how we usually do it here in Malaysia.
BBQ old school style, with charcoal like it's supposed to be! I had marinated shrimp and a type of river catfish. My host told me the fish is seasonal, so I must have been lucky. It is served with some soya sauce and red chili. The fish tastes sweet and the shrimp.. was AWESOME. Tastes slightly salty but very, very sweet and succulent.
After the BBQ, the next dish was something like steamboat. This is served with burning charcoal and a healthy dosage of fresh vegetable such as lettuce, bean sprout and basil leaves. The main ingredient was the fish again, it was very good. While the marinated BBQ type was sweet and succulent, the steamboat with soup, brings out a different taste and texture from the same fish.
A bottle of Heineken went really well with that meal. Like Pho, this is a must try if you go to Vietnam.

KY's House - Female Santa Claus Spotted!
By now most of you have probably seen my housemates Sotong and Horng (sometimes spelled as Horny). There is however, another hidden and sometimes invisible female santa chick living with us. Her name is Heuy Fang and have you seen someone looks more like santa than her while brushing teeth?
I hope she's not reading this, she might decide to stop drawing the awesome mural on the garden wall otherwise. hehehe.

Koi Pond - Tiles, Water Neutralization, and Xmas Tree
After leveling the garden, we headed to Sungai Buloh for some plants and carpet grass. You can see that the pond is really coming together.
Grass is in, and we planted 2 miniature x'mas trees, too. By the time I'm in my middle age I'm sure the trees would be big enough to allow me to hang some x'mas deco, maybe on Sotong's 40th birthday or something.
The grass costs about RM 3.50 per 2 sq. feet. 30 pieces of those are used.
Look at these tiles! Believe it or not, those are homemade. Horng did most of the job in this one. Wooden brackets are used as moles, mortar is then poured in and miniature yellow river pepples are stuck on top of the tiles. We then put a layer of sand and arranged the tiles nicely. Nice and dandy ain't it?
Since the pond is made of cement, the water is highly alkaline. Nothing would ever really survive in the condition like that. To reduce the pH level, we throw in a couple bottle of acid bought from the hardware store, as well as some pineapple skin.
Waterfall and filtration system coming up soon.

The previous post on the Koi Pond construction featured rounding the top of the cement pond. Since then quite a bit of work had been done on the project, but lets talk about the elevation of the garden and water proofing here.
Since we were elevating the garden by about 1 feet near the gate, we had to line up bricks around the water meter to prevent it from dissapearing into the ground. I'm sure the SYABAS meter reader dude appreciates this. Wire mesh is used to strengthen the foundation, and concrete is poured.
2 layers of water proofing agent was then applied to prevent water seepage through the cement. A layer of pure cement water was applied prior to this. Acrobatic act was needed to accomplished this.
Water was added to the pond to test if there was any leakage. So far so good.

KY travels - Yangon, Myanmar
I recently travelled to Yangon, Myanmar in a company trip. The experience was very different from Vietnam, a place where I have been on several occasions. While Ho Chi Minh City is bustling with development, Yangon appear to be more like a throw back in time, a backwater of ASEAN.
In Yangon, citizen are not allowed to own motorcycles. While this is a good thing evironmental wise, it makes travelling a very difficult task considering the lack of modern transportation facilities, and cars are prohibitedly expensive. For a country where GPD per capita stands at around US$1,700, a lousy used car can fetch up to US$10,000!
What happen then, is what you see on the pictures above, people crammed on the little modified truck, and pay US$0.02 for the trip to work. Often time a small truck fills up so many passengers that some of them might have to hold on at the back as if performing some stunts. Jackie Chan would be proud.
Most people wears Sarong and sandles to everywhere. Perhaps shoes are a bit too expensive for the economy there. I noticed at the airport (with one and only terminal) that even the lower ranked security officials (up to Sarjen) wore sandles instead of black shoes.
Fortunately, despite the sanction, the city is not all too dead, and there are a few international hotels to be found. I was staying at Traders Hotel, own by non other than the Shangrila group of Malaysia. Bring plenty of cash if you need to pay for your hotel, credit cards are not accepted in Myanmar, due to the sanction. Room rates at a 5 star establishment is decently priced at $50-$70 USD.
2 things you can't miss in Myanmar. The spectacular Buddish temples, and scores of beggers everywhere. There are alot of monks too. After speaking to a hotel worker, I found out that people at Myanmar usually become a monk when they reach the age of 20. It is optional and done as a traditional/religious practise. One can elect to be a monk for a week, a month, a year, or however long you wish. Many older folks will become monks when they're old.
On the streets of Yangon, you can find alot of things. Including condoms, don't ask me about the price, I don't know. If you have eyes for jade and precious stones, this city offers alot for you. I only got some small jade elephants for friends as I don't know how to judge the quality of precious stones or jade at all.
Food wise, if you are accustomed to Malaysian food, you should find no trouble at all. Bordering Bangladesh, India, China, and Thailand, the taste is a mixture of those countries. Halal food isn't hard to come by either. However, I do find that the food generally exhibit a saltier taste than in Malaysia.

Other things to note:
- Communication is heavily restricted. There is no roaming. During anniversaries significant to the now detained democratic leader, phone services are switched off altogether.
- You cannot connect to YM, MSN messenger, Yahoo mail, or Hotmail. I tried to connect to Dalnet server on IRC as a last resort but was redirected to irc.communists.org or something like that.
- Bring alot of cash if you need to pay for the hotel. Credit cards are not accepted since the sanction.
- Exchange rate at airport is 450 kyats to US$1. At "black" market it is 1075 kyats to US$1. Don't change your money at the airport!
- A visa is required to enter the country, can be obtained from the embassy for RM120 or RM160 if you want them to issue it to you in a day's time.
- Malaysian girls are alot prettier.

KY Pimps - FireAngel
